Arbitrage betting is a typical situation where arbitrage arises in the betting markets due to different opinions of the bookmakers or the bookies on various outcomes of events or pure errors.
In simple words, it is a kind of betting where for one event, there are different possibilities or outcome of a single situation and the bettor has the choice of selecting more that one possibility. Here, the bettor can place one bet for each outcome with different betting companies and have fair chances of making profits. Generally, a single company also utilizes many bookmakers for each outcome.
As with any kind of betting, this type of betting can be both profitable and at the same time it can lead to a loss. It is different form the normal bets but the chances of losing in arbitrage betting are approximately the same as other types of bets. The people who benefit the most from arbitrage betting are the bookmakers. This is because they will make calculations that will ensure they make a profit whichever way the betting goes.
Arbitrage betting is marked by the use of various slangs. For example, the bettors tend to use the word ‘arb’ representing the word arbitrage. A normal arb will represent an average of 2%. In some cases, you will find that arbitrage betting rates tend to be in the range of four to five percent.

This kind of betting is very popular in Great Britain, as the bookies of Britain have developed strategies of making lager profits in arbitrage through sports arbitrage. The trick to successfully make a profit from this type of betting is through the use of “key men”. The use of such men will help a person to avoid detection by bookmakers. This means that one can place several bets through one bookmaker and if the bet swings their way, they will make a large profit when compared to those that bet on their own.
This process is tricky but an expert practice can lead to some huge arbitrage betting profits. However, one should be careful when engaged in this type of betting. The reason behind this is that most bookmakers work for some very wealthy and influential people.
